우리는 흔히 벽돌, 목재, 콘크리트 등이 단순히 건축의 외형을 구성하는 도구라 생각하기 쉽다. 하지만 이들은 감각적 경험과 공간의 가치를 형성하는 데 중요한 역할을 한다.

We often think of materials such as brick, wood, or concrete as mere tools that make up the physical appearance of architecture.
However, these materials play a crucial role in shaping spatial atmosphere and sensory experience. Materials & Spatial Qualities in Architecture begins with the origins and physical properties of each material and explores how they construct spatial moods, convey architectural intent, and ultimately connect to human experience.
